Children are the future and we believe involving them in the protection of Lake Atitlán is absolutely essential. By promoting top-notch environmental education, hands-on activities, and experiments, all of which are tailored to the local culture, Education for Conservation helps prepare the next generation of environmental conservationists and increases environmental awareness among the communities surrounding the lake.
In close cooperation with the Guatemalan Ministry of Education, the government of the Sololá department (in which lake Atitlán is located), and local municipalities, Education for Conservation works together with teachers and principals to learn more effective ways and methods for teaching environmental conservation.
As the COVID pandemic continues to affect the world, the Education for Conservation team has developed online curricula including self-learning guides, online classes, and educational videos, allowing students to continue their environmental education from home.
