On Saturday, October 24th, 2020, Edward Peciulis unexpectedly died of a massive pulmonary embolism at age 47. Two weeks prior, he experienced a cycling mishap, for which he was receiving treatment. He was optimistic for his recovery. Unfortunately, none of the testing detected that blood clots had formed in both his legs, which fatally embolized his heart and blocked his lungs. He died with family around him.
Ed was born on December 20th, 1972, in Toronto, Ontario. He graduated from Michael Power/St. Joseph high school, and obtained the following professional accreditations: University of Toronto BASc Chemical Engineering, INSEAD MBA Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Strategy.
From childhood, Ed was passionate towards science, research, exploration, and dedicating his life to continuous learning and experimentation. His capacity to absorb information felt limitless. In between his BASc and MBA, Ed dedicated several years working for Unilever Canada, securing a strategically located house, and building the foundation for his future. Disliking the prospect of indefinite corporate servitude, he moved to France to pursue his MBA, then travelled perpetually, living in England, Lithuania, Ukraine, Brazil, with occasional returns back to North America to visit family and friends.
His focus for the last decade of his adult life was to see as much as possible, meet new people, and enrich himself within varying cultures. Contrasting his stoic disciplined persona, he honed a very passionate sense of humour, razor sharp wit, charged by a seemingly endless energy and aura. He loved having fun, and a vast amount of people enjoyed having fun with him.
Ed came back to Canada in early 2020, not long before Covid changed everything and grounded him here. He spent his time working on various renovations for his house, and spending quality time with family, particularly his young nephew Austin. He was optimistic that the world would resettle mid 2021, where he could once again continue his explorations.
Ed is survived by his parents Vytautas and Irena, his brother Rimas, his sisters Vilija and Virginija, his brother-in-law Ryan, his nephew Austin, and various friends and family.
