There are hungry kids in your town and the Emmaus Rotary along with volunteers from numerous area service and volunteer organizations is looking for your help. These groups are all working together to combat food insecurity in the East Penn School District Region. Some of the partners include and not limited to: The Angel Network, Bethel Food Pantry, Kiwanis, Lions, Lionness, and numerous faith organizations. This spring, the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated the number of families struggling with daily hunger in our neighborhoods. Starting last summer in 2019 ,we provided lunches to Lincoln Elementary school—a total of about 200 lunches. Since September, 2019 to date we have expanded the program with a weekend food supply to the entire school district going from 33 per week to now an immediate need of 325 per week. Through May, we have distributed 4526 bags of food to needy families in our community. Food costs have risen and we need more funding to sustain the program. The cost for the summer program alone will exceed $10,000. We expect to continue the program beyond the summer.
