The East Hartford Little League was established in 1950 to teach boys and girls in town, ages 4 to 16 (and older with our Challengers Divisions which were founded by Little League in 1989, and is Little League’s adaptive baseball program for individuals with physical and intellectual challenges), how to play baseball and softball. While developing the skills to play the game, we also teach the social and emotional aspects of playing a team sport. The children of our town learn how to play together and work together while being outdoors, active and social with their peers. Our older players are role models for our younger players by helping each other grow and learn! Our Majors players buddy up with our Challengers players during their games too!
We typically hold a spring, summer, and fall season annually and our Board of Directors works hard to bring the games of Baseball and Softball to life for our Players and to teach them how to use these skills both on and off the fields!
This year COVID-19 changed many things for many people and many sports leagues. No one is untouched by this pandemic. East Hartford Little League is no different and we NEED your help to keep Baseball and Softball alive for the boys and girls of our town. We are currently playing a smaller summer season (with just our 2 older divisions (Majors and Minors- AAA) playing. Our goal is to hold our "Spring" Season this fall (if we can) with all of our divisions and kids coming back to learn and play ball and having our previously planned Opening Ceremony and hopefully a Jamboree at the end of the season (if possible)!
In order to do this, we need to raise as much money as possible to be able to fix damage to our dug outs (see pictures), make major repairs to our Press Box at Gorman Park Stadium, replace the steps at the ordering window at the Concessions Stand at Gorman Park, make repairs to our Concession Stands at both Gorman Park and McAuliffe Park and paint our Gorman Park Concessions building. Our biggest fundraisers are both of our Concession Stands and due to the virus we can't serve hot foods, like our famous Fried Oreos, and this has had a huge impact on the amount of money we usually raise from sales.
This Go Fund Me campaign will help alleviate some of the loss of income from the concession stands and most importanly allow us to make the necessary repairs to our facilities needed to protect our players while allowing us to fundraise safely so that our players and families can stay as safe as possible.
Please consider donating today! Every little bit helps! Our players, parents, coaches, umpires and Board of Directors will be forever grateful!
