The East African Refugee Goat Project has moved to a new home!
This winter, the Goat Project transitioned to a new 80-acre site just west of the Salt Lake City airport. Your contributions will help the Goat Project install critical infrastructure such as a water pumping system, solar electric power, and fencing and shelters for our growing herd.
Help us ensure these needs are met before the spring kidding season begins by donating today!
The East African Refugee Goat Project is a program of the International Rescue Committee in Salt Lake City that helps refugees in our community raise meat goats for food, youth education, and cultural continuity. Our herd of over 200 goats provides a source of halal goat meat, a commodity that can be difficult to find in local grocery stores. The Goat Project also engages with refugee youth via our 4-H Goat Club, generates income through paid offsite grazing and goat meat sales, and offers opportunities for intergenerational knowledge-sharing about livestock rearing to refugee families.
