This year of 2020 started out like most years with East Africa Ministries. Summer evangelism trips were being planned, the Bible college (CBIT) was in session, and another wonderful year in the Lord's service was anticipated. However, like in the rest of the world, fear and government actions to avoid the spread of COVID-19 overtook East Africa. In Uganda, public gatherings including school, church or transportation (private and public) were banned. Access to markets is only via foot and only in the mornings. People have saved no money and their daily life is rapidly becoming dire. They typically live tomorrow on income raised today. Food prices have increased 40% in the last few weeks where it is available. Locusts have invaded eastern Uganda and northern Kenya destroying crops and making farmers afraid to plant thereby aggravating food shortages.
The Pastor Relief Fund is being organized to provide a lifeline to pastors who occupy the 125 churches active in the East Africa Ministry and staff of Covenant Bible Institute of Theology (CBIT). Approximately 142 individuals represent these entities. They desparately need your help through your immediate provision of food/funds to see them through the current COVID-19 emergency.
The Pastor Relief Fund is requesting brothers and sisters who have participated in ministry with Pastor Morris Ogenga to make a $200 donation per pastor or staff member. Funds will be sent to Mbale Bible Presbyterian Church and administered by Pastor Morris and Aida Ogenga to provide for those according to their needs.
Please join us in prayer for our friends in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania and if the Lord so moves you, please make a one-time donation to show God's love through you during this time of need. Don't keep this to yourself! We need your social network to kick in to make this happen. Please share with your church and past participants on missionary trips so that we can cover these 142 individuals as soon as possible.
