Hard financial stress hits a home-bound hospice patient. "Ray D" is a Vietnam combat veteran. The hospice care provider contacted Last Patrol today to ask for our help. Our goal is to provide a 30-day emergency supply of can goods and, if possible, dry dog food. We spoke to him and he says, about his 3 dogs, "I ain't got much left but I have to keep taking care of my babies." Ray served in the Army as an Infantry Soldier, '68 - '71. He did 2 tours in Vietnam with the 101st Screaming Eagles. Ray's son is living with him and serves as Ray's part-time caregiver, but the son just lost his paying job due to Coronavirus layoffs -- hence the emergency crisis. Ray has Stage 4 cancer. Sadly, won't be with us long.
