I ran Grandma's Marathon for the first time in 2015. I registered by myself on New Year's Eve and did all of my training solo and secretly until I hit the 22 mile long run. Until that time, I wasn't sure I would be able to finish the entire race. I DID finish in 4:55 and I was over the moon. I've since run Grandma's Marathon twice more, and for my fourth time in 2020 I am running for the YMCA.
I have worked at the Downtown Duluth branch of the YMCA for a year as a Membership Representative. In my time at the front desk, I have been so fortunate to meet people from all walks of life...members that have been with the Y for 30+ years and families just starting out at the facility. I love how everyone that walks through our doors knows that they are welcome. I appreciate that no matter what a person's income, the Y strives to make membership afforable for everyone. Our Y has an amazing community and I am honored to be a part of it. I will run and raise money to keep helping those in need of membership assistance.
My financial goal is $1,455. I plan to beat my 2015 race time of 4 hours & 55 minutes and with your donation, I know I can do it!
Thank you so much for your support!
The Duluth Area Family YMCA reaches beyond zip codes with a commitment to our neighbors wherever they reside.
We serve the Northland through our 5 branches: Camp Miller in Sturgeon Lake, Cook County Community YMCA in Grand Marais, the YMCA at the Essentia Wellness Center in Hermantown, Community Services at Harbor Highlands, and the Downtown Y in Duluth.
Our RUN FOR ALL team is comprised of Y Champions dedicated to the cause of access and opportunity for all.
Together we are dedicated to strengthening our community through programs that nurture the potential of children, promote individual health and well-being, and provide support for our neighbors.
When you support the Y, you join an organization that offers more health, more hope, and more opportunity to children, teens, adults, and to families.
WE ARE FOR ALL.
Join us in supporting access for all across our region!
Interested in Running for the Y?
How it works is you commit to fundraising a minimum of $400 and you can run the ½ or full marathon in support of the YMCA.
We then help you set up your fundraising page and provide you with some support so you can share the story of the Y and meet your fundraising goal.
If you are ready to sign up, complete our Grandma's Marathon Y Commitment Form which will provide even more specific details and get you ready to run!
