Each year, 1.5 million children don't live to see their 5th birthday due to vaccine-preventable diseases. That is a loss of life every 20 seconds.
This pandemic has served to remind us of the power that vaccines have to prevent illness and save lives. Vaccines protect individuals, communities, and the healthcare systems struggling to meet the demands of this public health crises.
The World Health Organization estimates that more than 80 million infants are at risk for vaccine-preventable diseases due to disruptions in immunization services from COVID-19. Now more than ever, we need to protect children and families from the diseases that we can prevent.
Each suggested minimum contribution of $25 is equivalent to the complete series* of vaccines to protect 5 children from 5 deadly diseases through their 5th birthday.
Want to do more? Each additional kilometer ($5) is equal to a completed series for another child.
*based on the series of 3 pentavalent vaccines -diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B and Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib) and one additional DPT vaccine- estimated cost.
