Cancer has hit most everyone, in one way or another. In my family, it has been too often.
DTG For The Cure was started in 2009, when my Mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and went through a double mastectomy. It was at that time that I decided to form a fundraiser in which I decided to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Foundation by losing weight and asking for pledges for each pound I could lose. I didn't know what to really expect to happen with all of this, but in the end, caring people had donated a total of $500 per pound. I ended up losing 49 pounds and raising well over $20,000.
So, here I am, in 2018, reviving DTG For The Cure, this time focusing on cancer in general. From Sunday, February 4th through Wednesday, July 4th, I am going to do it again. I don't know what my actual goal is on the amount of weight I can lose, but I do know that I want to beat the $500 per pound mark. Those of you who know me, know that I don't ask much from anyone, but I am asking you to donate to this cause and dedicate it to your loved ones.
I know I am ready to go with this endeavor. So, what do you say - You In?
