When I moved back to my home state of Maine in 2012, I was looking for a political home and a place to organize. I never could have imagined a place as special and powerful as the Southern Maine Workers' Center. This organization share my values, my commitment to deep community organizing, and my love of karaoke. It's been an incredible honor to serve this organization as a member, as the board chair, and for the last three years, as Executive Director.
SMWC has a transformative organizing praxis. We're constantly learning about how to be a more strategic organization, that's growing & skilling up our members, while having concrete wins in the workplace, to city hall, to the statehouse. We do what's right with what we've got, which means we count first and foremost on grassroots support from people like you who support our mission.
Can you make a donation to my fundraiser for SMWC's Annual Karaoke fundraiser? My goal is to raise $1,500 to support our member-driven campaigns and programs. If I meet my goal I'll sing Britney Spears at our party on February 9th. If you donate $50 or more and you can vote on which of her songs I sing!
