We invite all Defeat DIPG supporters to join with us for the Defeat DIPG Dream Big Weekend (Friday, November 6 - Sunday, November 8) presented by DARCARS Automotive Group.
With your help, we hope to raise at least $150,000 this weekend, which will fund a two-year Defeat DIPG ChadTough Fellowship Grant. We wish we could be together with you all in person for the gala, but due to the pandemic, we are instead inviting everyone to support this donation campaign. *Note: if you want to make an offline donation, no problem! Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org*
DIPG is the deadliest form of childhood brain cancer, with a survival rate near 0%. It most commonly strikes children from ages 4-11 years old (though younger kids and young adults are diagnosed as well). The median survival from diagnosis is 9 months.
Our fellowship grants are intended to attract and support promising scientists embarking on careers involving DIPG research. By providing funding to outstanding postdoctoral fellows under the guidance of a mentor, we seek to develop the next generation of leaders in the field of DIPG research. Our fellowships have already proven successful: we have been heartened to see some of our initial Defeat DIPG ChadTough Fellows progress in their careers so that they are now heading up their own DIPG research projects in independent labs.
Each year, the Defeat DIPG Dream Big Gala is the largest fundraiser of the year for our nonprofit. In 2019, this event alone raised over $470,000. Due to COVID-19, we are not able to host this special event and gather with our incredible supporters. Our Defeat DIPG chapters have also had to cancel their important community fundraisers in 2020, including the Be Strong, Go Gold Gala hosted by Avery Huffman Defeat DIPG Foundation in the Seattle area and the Reach for the Stars Fundraiser in Chicago hosted by Anthony's Avengers Defeat DIPG Foundation.
We know that times are challenging for so many. We ask that over this weekend -- when we were supposed to be gathering together for the 4th Annual Defeat DIPG Dream Big Gala -- that you think about the families are in the midst of fighting with their child against DIPG. Imagine that these families are not only facing the difficulties everyone feels with the pandemic, but also the weight and fear associated with battling against the deadliest childhood brain cancer.
Our mission to find a cure for Defeat DIPG remains as critical as ever. Our goal is to raise at least $150,000 during the Defeat DIPG Dream Big Weekend.
Together, We Will Defeat DIPG!
