Unprecedented. Uncertain. Let’s be clear—this has been just plain weird
Cancellations. Awkward zoom meetings. Kids begging to do something fun, creative, and connected.
You can do something about it.
Join with hundreds of other defenders of young artists making sure that any child who wants to make a play, imagine being a dinosaur with a group of friends, fly to the moon (with mermaid astronauts), or speak out on what’s bugging them about the world has a place to play and discover and be heard.
THE BIG, BOLD GOAL: $45,000 by September 1 and another $250,000 to provide Pay As You Are Able access to thousands of young people throughout the school year
SteppingStone Theatre for Youth is standing with you, our community, to address the need for connection, belonging and PLAY our young people need during this crisis. It won’t be easy. Almost 60% of SteppingStone’s budget comes from fees and tickets, but this year there are so many families hurting economically, so many parents eager to find meaningful and joyous connections for their children, so many teachers needing support--don’t you think it’s worth doing something big?
Consider giving the cost of a class for 8 students ($650) or tickets for a family of four ($56). Pay for a virtual school residency ($500). Any gift counts (and if you have a really great idea--let us know. We are all ears).
Since March over 350 students, from across North America, have participated in our small group Virtual Studios. Here is what they experienced:
“This is the happiest my son has been since quarantine started. Thank you, thank you, thank you. He’s so excited to get up and go to his class. Your teaching artists just get teens...I’ve never seen such an engaged Zoom meeting.”- Parent, 2020 Teen Virtual Studio
"I have to say, the class they are doing right now is very active! Not at all like sitting there doing homework or playing games online :-)" -- M. Lang, Elementary Class Parent
Be on the team of heroes defending young artists. Give. Help spread the word. This school year promises to be weird and a little unpredictable, so let’s create connection, predictability, and great memories for young artists.
