DQ's Slap Shot Against Melanoma - Stage 4
Welcome to the 4th annual DQ Slap Shot Against Melanoma Golf Tournament which started in the fall of 2016 after DQ was diagnosed with Stage IV Melanoma with a bleak future. Due to the diligent research of the organization, known as the Melanoma Research Alliance (MRA) DQ will be teeing off again this year and has resumed his regular working career. This research and our fundraising for MRA has resulted in him enjoying life at home with his family and his peppering opposing goalies with his slap shot when he plays hockey on Thursday nights.
Founded in 2007, the MRA has dedicated itself to finding treatments for curing this form of cancer. This program has helped develop 11 new treatments approved by the FDA totaling 13 treatments that are being used to fight off this disease, a disease that many of us may encounter in our lives. The discoveries pioneered by melanoma are now being used to successfully treat other forms of cancer, such as lung, and breast cancer. Due to the financial backing by Leon Black and his wife, 100% of any donation goes directly to their research. Dedicated individuals such as Dr Aplin of University of Philadelphia are at the forefront of this research effort and DQ's amazing recovery is proof how funding research leads to success. So lets team up, continue to show support for a worthy cause, and score a goal against this cancer.
Our goal is $3000. Lets help others like DQ who may get knocked down but we can help them get up again !!! Thank You --- DQ along with his family raise their hockey sticks in appreciation of you cheering him as he got back on his feet these past three years and for helping this charity continue on to help others !!!
