Participating in sailing activities children and teens are exposed to a unique form of physical fitness. Additionally, because sailing is a team activity, participants gain important communication, social and leadership skills and increased self-esteem; life skills that they will carry into adulthood.
Sailing also helps teach young people to be good stewards of our oceans and their resources.
Our CFJ Fleet
This boat is the lifeblood of youth sailing programs! It is the double-handed boat that is used for the intermediate to advanced sailor and is the boat used in all high school and collegiate sailing.
The DPHYF fleet of CFJs have been sailed well beyond their useful life expectancies! Most are over 10 years old . . . with several more than 25 years old!
We need to replace our CFJ fleet. A new boat costs $8,525 ... Our Goal of $51,150 by January 31 will allow us to add 6 new boats to our fleet.
Scholarships & Grants
Each year DPHYF provides scholarships to many youth participating in various sailing & educational programs who would otherwise not be able to attend without those scholarships! The foundation also provides grants to several organizations each year.
These grants and scholarships are made possible from the donations received from individuals and organizations like you!
