Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death for youth in Michigan. Being in an urban area, there are barriers that prevent urban youth from learning water safety. With your help, the YMCA of Greater Flint can help provide those crucial learning experiences with programs such as 4th Grade Swim Safety. This program teaches all 4th graders in Flint Community Schools water safety and swimming lessons. Last year, we sent 315 children through our 4th Grade program. That's 315 more kids in our community educated about water safety.
Just $15 buys a swimsuit and equipment for a child to take swim lessons. $30 gives one child a session of swim lessons. $100 gives one child one whole year of swim and water saftey classes. $170 pays for an entire class of elementary students to attend one water saftey class.
With your help, we can help prevent youth drowning in our community. Make an impact and dive into the Downtown YMCA's 2019 Swim-a-thon.
