NATIONAL SUMMER CAMPAIGN: Let’s Go!
We are Down For Dance (DFD), a dance program for individuals with Down syndrome!
This past spring amidst a pandemic, we were faced with the unfortunate reality of a mandated and indefinite break from in-studio classes . . . & so our online journey began.
We quickly transitioned and adapted our ‘in-studio’ program to an online platform so that we could continue to offer high quality programming and opportunities for our dancers.
We even created this VIDEO with some of our dancers to show that NOTHING CAN STOP US FROM DANCING!
We focused on the opportunities that come with an online program. And so now DFD is nationwide, serving over 85 dancers across 16 states throughout the US (check out the map above)!
Online programming gives our dancers the opportunity to:
· Attend more classes throughout the week
· Try new styles of classes
· Learn from multiple instructors
· Dance with dancers from around the country!
DFD is so essential - now more than ever! Many extracurricular activities and sports are cancelled for the time being, but it’s so crucial that our dancers continue to stay active for their overall well-being.
There are so many important benefits of our classes, including:
· Physical exercise & movement
· Provides an emotional outlet through artistic expression
· Increase strength, balance & coordination
· Gain self-confidence
· Make new friends!
· Social interaction & connection
And they do this all while having FUN!
We need your support to continue to make this possible!
Our upcoming fall program cost students $225 for a 12 week dance session. It costs DFD about $300-$350 per student for 12 weeks of dance classes. Additionally, DFD offers scholarships and we have never turned away a dancer due to financial hardship. We are asking for your help to keep offering this high quality programming and keep DFD affordable and accessible.
In order to maintain our high level of instruction, we limit the number of dancers in each class. With classes sold out, and a growing waitlist, our goals for this fall are to:
· Offer more classes
· Accommodate dancers on our waitlist
· Create space for new dancers
· Have at least 100 active dancers for our fall 2020 session!
DFD wouldn’t be where we are today without the incredible support we receive from our community. Any donation amount is welcome & every dollar counts! Your contribution will go towards providing a fun, unique and empowering opportunity for an individual with Down syndrome. We are truly grateful for everyone’s contributions during this time.
Down syndrome is also known as trisomy 21, so we have set our fundraising goal at $3210 (as our nod to 3.21).
As a small token of our appreciation, we want to honor and thank some of our generous donors: The first 5 people to donate a minimum of $321 will win a VIP All Access Pass to our National Zoom Dance Party on 8/21!!
Who are we?
Down For Dance is 501(c)(3) non-profit dance program in Southern California. Our mission is, "To empower individuals with Down syndrome to build a stronger sense of self through dance." Down For Dance is driven by a deep passion to develop and offer quality programming for those populations that are not normally exposed to artistic forms of expression.
There is still so much room for us to grow, as we continue to move closer to our vision:
“To spread DFD around the globe so that every individual with Down syndrome has access to high quality dance classes”
Thank you for your support and helping us reach our goal!
