Doorstep Donations is a nonprofit organization committed to serving underprivileged and food-insecure families. Our mission is to support our suffering neighbors, as well as to inspire and empower youth to solve food crises within their communities. Doorstep Donations’ simple Postmates-like service model allows contributors to donate from the safety of their homes by leaving food donations on their doorsteps.
Doorstep Donations was founded by high school sophomores Ben Gleeman, Jonah Gleeman, and Ryan Spiegel. All three live and attend school in New York City. Ryan and Jonah go to The Ethical Culture Fieldston School in the Bronx while Ben studies at Trinity School on the Upper West Side. The trio started Doorstep Donations to serve their community as well as to mitigate the disastrous food crisis in the New York area caused by COVID-19.
Doorstep Donations began after Jonah, Ben, and Ryan proposed an innovative way to alleviate the growing problem of food insecurity caused by COVID-19. The boys started a service that makes donating safe and easy. Doorstep Donations mitigates the fear of infection by allowing people to donate food and essentials from the safety of their homes.
Since its inception, Doorstep Donations has become a registered 501(c)(3) organization with over 11 locations in North America. Doorstep Donations has served over 30,000 meals and accumulated over $35,000 dollars from more than 150 donors. Though the Coronavirus catalyzed Doorstep Donations, the service will remain viable long after the virus because of its simple and efficient model.
