Life is short and moments are precious, but perspective is most important. Perspective is the value Aunt Leslie continually instilled in those around her. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer just four months before she passed, she always reminded me, “Don’t sweat the small stuff."
In her memory, my family created the The Leslie F. Schwartz Pancreatic Cancer Research Foundation to fight pancreatic cancer, the 3rd leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States. The Foundation is committed to directing funds we raise to support meaningful efforts at early detection and treatment.
When I run my first marathon, the Chicago Marathon on October 7th, 2018, I will be thinking of Aunt Leslie. I will enjoy the experience, live in the moment, and certainly won’t sweat the small stuff.
