The Shifa Clinic Athens is a 501c nonprofit clinic that has been providing free healthcare to the medically uninsured & underserved in Athens since March 2017. We have a student team of mostly undergraduate students at the University of Georgia running the clinic with local doctors volunteering weekly on Saturday mornings. Our clinic has specialists in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Neurology, Nephrology, Psychiatry, and Pediatrics, all working on a rotating schedule. Since opening in March of 2017, we have provided over $75,000 worth of healthcare and with your support, we hope to continue strong for the years to come.
The idea for founding The Shifa Clinic Athens was originally conceived by a couple doctors volunteering in Duluth, GA. They noticed a high number of patients commuting from the Athens area. They soon came to realize the tremendous need for affordable, high-quality medical care as over 30% of the county lived below the poverty line, which is one of the highest rates in the country.
Please consider donating - When it comes to these medical services, every dollar counts. The money will be used to fund health fairs in high-poverty sectors, purchase important medications and expand our operations
We're a subsidiary of ICNA Relief that sponsors a multitude of other Shifa Clinics throughout the United States.
We appreciate all of your support!
