A billion students have had their education disrupted
“This is a generational catastrophe that could waste untold human potential, undermine decades of progress, and exacerbate entrenched inequalities.” UN Chief Antonio Guterres
Education has been interrupted for over 2 million students in Ontario alone.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Tootyr was created by over 100 volunteers to offer FREE one-to-one personalized, student-focused online tutoring. We built a website that utilizes screen sharing, face-to-face technology and provides fully screened and qualified volunteer tutors. Tootyr is a non-profit initiative of NewArts (Newmarket Community Music & Arts Centre) a registered Canadian Charity.
The website and services are designed for kindergarten to grade 12 students in a multitude of subjects to support the Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum. The test site was successfully launched in August 2020 and we anticipate that over 5,000 students and 1,000 tutors will register on the site by the end of 2020 and up to 100,000 in 2021. You can visit the site here. www.tootyr.ca
As a donor, you will be part of the solution to one of the most important causes of today and help ensure 100,000 students in Canada are not left behind due to their financial situation.
Please make a donation now to make one-to-one online tutoring free for 100,000 Ontario schoolchildren who are being left behind because their education has been disrupted due to COVID 19 and their families can’t afford a private tutor.
Because tutors are volunteering it only costs us $10 for each tutoring session for each child.
