A $200 contribution or less from you or your local business, will produce hundreds of lbs of fruits and vegetables to donate, sell, and feed the Everett community throughout our entire growing season!
Everett Community Growers: Growing our Community One Garden at a Time!
Everett Community Growers (ECG) is a community-based food justice organization working to improve health and racial equity through urban agriculture, youth workforce development, and equitable policy change. We believe that everyone in Everett should have access to healthy, affordable, culturally appropriate food.
We work to engage the community around food justice & sustainable agriculture, focusing on increasing social cohesion and sharing local food knowledge through collaborative workshops and events that are held at our sites each summer.
A Brief History
Everett Community Growers (ECG) was born out of a collaborative project of the Everett Community Health Partnership (ECHP) to create resident-led solutions to food access inequities in Everett. A two-year community organizing campaign guided by La Comunidad, Inc. led to the creation of Everett’s first community garden, the Florence Street Community Garden, in 2012. Since then, ECG has created the Tremont Street Community Garden (2015), the Northern Strand Community Farm (2016), and the Earthworks Sculptural Garden (2018). Also in 2018 we launched our ECG Youth Crew at our community farm - an urban farming and community engagement training program for Everett youth.
We have conducted land inventories to assess sites in the city suitable for urban agriculture and partnered with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) and the City of Everett on Everett’s first Community Food Assessment and Plan, which includes policy recommendations for a more equitable food system. Our next step is to work with the City of Everett to create a Food Policy Council to implement those policy recommendations - if you’re interested in learning more, getting involved, or supporting our work, please visit our website or send us an email at: firstname.lastname@example.org
Our Farm Stand
Our hours are every Saturday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm from July until November, and we accept cash, card, SNAP/EBT and P-EBT transactions. We offer a variety of seasonal organic produce items coming straight from our urban farm - all grown by our dedicated and hard-working Youth Crew! We also donate produce to the Bread of Life food pantry.
What do we Grow?
ECG is supported by the fiscal sponsorship of La Comunidad, Inc., a 501c3 non-profit organization working to provide a better future to the Latino-American community in the city of Everett and surrounding areas, and is a program of the Everett Community Health Partnership through the Cambridge Health Alliance.
