A little over a year ago I came across Hearts for Paws Rescue and started fostering. Since then, I have fostered around 10 dogs and even happened to find my forever best friend Moose!
At first I thought fostering would be great because I could spend time cuddling and playing with dogs; and while it is that I have also come to realize there is SO MUCH MORE that goes in to rescue. The volunteers, the fosters, the transporters, the networkers, and of course the adopters. I am so lucky to have been able to be a part of many successful adoptions but to see the hard work from everyone made me realize more that I want to help.
Which is why I have decided to run a half marathon to raise money for a rescue that goes above and beyond, that started out with a dream of saving 35 dogs in it's first year, to saving over 1000 dogs in the last 3 years. Sam, the director, founder, and all round superstar has poured her life and soul in to saving these dogs. The reality is, there are always bills to pay and dogs are in need of medical help and training and supplies which cannot be done with out amazing donations.
With your support, my goal is to raise as much money as I can, to run for the dogs, and give back to Sam and Hearts for Paws. All donations, no matter how small will make a HUGE difference.
So what can you do to help?
The fun part for you (and the motivational part for me!) is that each donation over $13.10 made in honor of a rescue dog (HFP alumni or not) will be highlighted on the front of shirt. For donations over $25; a mile will be named in honor of your rescue pup, to be highlighted on the back of my shirt!
This will be my second half marathon, and even though I told myself I would never do it again, my love for dog rescue has surged me on! So please help me, to give back to this deserving rescue and do it for the dogs!!
- Love, Dom and Moose xo
