Promise Ranch means different things to different people. For my oldest son Camden, a neurodiverse teenager, it means opportunities to have fun and try new things in an atmosphere of total acceptance. It means growing stronger as he sits upright on Tate's back, having long talks with Kaity and the volunteers about topics ranging from Taylor Swift to horse behavior.
For my younger son Micah, a neurotypical kid, Promise Ranch means having a good time and helping out in a no-excuses-necessary, everybody's welcome environment of inclusion. He and Camden are just kids having fun, no labels or differentiation needed.
For my husband Nolan, PRTR means bonding with furry, hairy, and feathered friends, just like my dad warned him would happen if he married me!
For me, Promise Ranch has meant an opportunity to use my professional skills to work toward a cause I feel passionate about. Who knew that when I signed up to volunteer at PRTR three years ago, I would eventually get to lead a TEAM of compassionate, talented individuals doing life-changing work?! -jamie mondrow
