Divide Camp’s mission is to help the healing process of post 9/11 combat wounded veterans by exposing them to mega doses of nature! Whether participating in a Health and Wellness Retreat, attending a Fly Tying Class, back packing in the Eagle Cap Wilderness or competing in an Archery Shoot, everything we do at DC takes our guests into a deeper relationship with their surroundings in nature.
One very special activity is our annual memorial hunt. During this hunt, one of our veteran applicants remembers his fallen battle buddy by harvesting a bull elk in his honor. The fallen heroe’s Gold Star father is invited to participate also. The camaraderie built during this hunt is exceptional and the opportunity for the Gold Star dad to get to know his son’s comrade, and for each of them to share stories about the honored son and friend allows for a type of healing not available through any other means.
We are running this campaign so we can continue to document these valuable heritage memorial hunts with professional videography. Please watch this short 14 minute film. In this video veteran Chris Shelton is honoring his friend Joshua Brennan. Josh’s father was not able to participate, so Chris’s dad, Randy Shelton joined his son. Hunting guides Jim Soares and Andy Marcum express their appreciation for the opportunity to make this hunt possible.
