Northwestern Volleyball is hosting a Dig for Justice match on Friday, March 26, 2021! The match is dedicated to honoring Black lives and bringing awareness to the Black Lives Matter movement. Northwestern Volleyball supports and stands in solidarity with the Black community.
In addition to the awareness that this match will bring, Northwestern Volleyball is raising funds for Urban Initiatives, a Chicago non-profit that uses the power of sport and play to empower Chicago’s youth to achieve academic success, develop social-emotional skills, and build social capital.
Urban Initiatives (UI) is dedicated to unlocking play’s potential while empowering families and schools across the city of Chicago to embed social-emotional learning (SEL) more deeply into everyday life. SEL is not just nice to have, it is essential, and UI’s play-based SEL programs help to create tangible ways in which participants can hone their skills in self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness and relationship skills.
Although every community has been impacted by COVID-19, the marginalized, under-resourced communities that Urban Initiatives serves- and especially the Black and African American community- have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. Urban Initiatives continues to recognize these inequities and is committed to actively deploying our mission to work towards more equitable outcomes for Chicago's youth.
In addition to supporting our cause, the first 50 donors to this page will receive a free t-shirt mailed to them by Northwestern Volleyball!
Thank you for supporting Urban Initiatives and Northwestern Volleyball.
