Children with special needs in Ukraine are the most undervalued and ignored in their society. They are shut away in orphanages. These orphanages often struggle to get them the medical treatment they desperately need.
Vika is 4 years old and has Phenylketonuria (PKU). PKU is an inborn error of metabolism that results in decreased metabolism of the amino acid phenylalanine. Despite being told at birth that Vika had PKU and required a diet that was low in phenylalanine, her mother continued feed her a normal diet. This caused Vika's development to be delayed and she developed epilepsy.
Vika now lives in an orphanage. The orphanage asked if we could help provide a special dietary supplement for Vika that provide the amino acids and other necessary nutrients that are lacking in a low-phenylalanine diet . If we reach our goal, we will be able to provide this dietary supplement to Vika for 9 months!
Please help us reach our goal! Vika needs your help.
