In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burden on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
Ukraine is currently in quarantine due to COVID-19. To help some of the most vulnerable, we are purchasing and delivering essential supplies to families of children with special needs in Ukraine.
Nazar just turned 10 years old. He has cerebral palsy and epilepsy due to a hypoxic brain injury at birth. For his safety, his parents sent him to stay with his grandmother in a rural village before the recent quarantine began. He also has an older brother who has a disability.
Both of his parents work hard to provide for their family, but having two children with disabilities means it is a struggle.
Nazar is currently in need of diapers and medicines. Can you help?
