On July 10, I turn 64! While I can’t throw a party for my family and friends in the midst of this COVID pandemic, I can celebrate by blessing others who have enriched my life beyond measure and who are today struggling due to this same virus. I’d like to focus that effort on the Philippines. In 2009, my husband, Jack, and I started Together in Hope, a 501(c )(3) nonprofit, to help communities in the Philippines who are living at the margins of existence. Members of these communities have become like family to us and they are suffering. Many of them were living at the margins of existence even before the COVID pandemic struck. Now, conditions are dire. Work that was already scarce is virtually non-existent. Government resources are not available. Health insurance and health care is not affordable, putting them at great risk. WILL YOU HELP ME CELEBRATE MY BIRTHDAY BY HELPING ME HELP THEM? Together in Hope's mission is to empower those living in poverty in the Philippines to improve their lives through education, nutrition, community organizing. Together in Hope envisions a world where all children have enough to eat, can go to school, are free from human trafficking, have access to quality health care, and where all parents can find jobs and provide for their families. We believe that if we all work together, in hope, each doing what we can, we can make that vision a reality and give those living in poverty a future with hope. Check us out at www.togetherinhope.org My goal for this birthday fundraiser for the month of July is $10,000. Every penny that we receive goes to the work in the Philippines. No member of the board or staff receives a salary. We are all volunteers. Your donation will save lives. Please help me reach my goal. It’s the only birthday present I want.
