The historic Senater Theater on Michigan Avenue in Detroit has been around since 1926 and it is in need of some help. The Mighty Wurlitzer from the Fisher Theater was installed there in 1962 and has presented over 700 organ concerts! The Detroit Theater Organ Society is an all volunteer organization and is a registered 501C3 charity in need of some assistance. The 30+ year old boiler has failed and the replacement boiler is over $60,000! Also, per the city of Detroit, there had to be some masonary brick repairs done recently for $12,000.
Our Wurlitzer is a one-of-a-kind. It is the 8th largest Wurlitzer ever built, and has thrilled audiences for decades! It has been at the Senate Theater longer than it was at the Fisher Theater. Famous organists from around the world have performed over the many years here. So we are asking for your help now to save the theater!
Please consider a donation to help us with these costs of keeping the theater warm and in good shape so we can continue to have organ concerts, show movies as well as provide a theater that is available for the Detroit area to enjoy for years to come.
