In Ukraine, parents of children with special needs are encouraged to hand their children over to state care. They are told their children are a burden on society. Children are sent to institutions where they are subjected to abuse and neglect. There is minimal support available to parents who fight to keep their children with them. Maya's Hope wants to help relieve some of the burdens on these amazing parents and assist in keeping children with their families, where they belong.
Marina was born in 2011. She was a happy and healthy baby until she contracted meningitis. She spent three months in hospital. During this time she had a brain hemorrhage, resulting in cerebral palsy and frequent seizures. After receiving these diagnoses, her father left the family. Marina's mother is raising her alone.
Marina is in urgent need of dental surgery to prevent infection and resolve her pain. Due to her significant needs, her dental care needs to be done under general anesthetic. This makes the procedure very expensive and her mother is unable to afford it. So she reached out to us to help her daughter. Can you help us raise the funds needed for Marina's dental surgery?
