The Hamilton Area YMCA has been a part of my life for nearly 20 years. For perspective, my small village of happy little people DID NOT EXIST when I began my job at the Y in 2002.
I vividly remember the agony of waiting for the call that the job was mine. I was over the moon at the thought of working to make an impact in my hometown, doing work I loved in a place that was family friendly (I had high hopes of starting a family).
I found a job and so much more. Over the last two decades they Y has become a home away from home, for both me and my children. I have forged relationships with colleagues who have become some of my best friends and with vendors that I count among my dear friends as well.
I affectionately refer to my children as "Y Brats" as all of them have spent their formative years impacted by the Y. They have participated in Ys Owls preschool (my fourth and final baby just graduated), swim lessons, and sports/dance. My oldest children have benefitted from care-free days at Sawmill summer camp. They have all learned the value of being a helper and have volunteered at countless events.
I can't quantify the many benefits that my family has reaped from being part of the Y fabric. This is why I am asking you to help me SAVE MY Y. Our Y is in danger of closing without critical funds that can sustain the important work we do. Please consider a donation so that countless children and families like mine can benefit from being a part of the Y.
