Breast cancer can make anyone feel alone. While mortality rates have dropped 40% among women since 1989, this year about 276,480 American women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer, and unfortunately, 42,170 women are expected to lose their battle from the disease. But, together, we are stronger than breast cancer.
American Cancer Society Denim Days brings us together to help save lives from breast cancer in a fun and unique way. Denim Days will take place throughout October 2019, but please join Boston Partners as we participate on the day the nation will celebrate on Friday, October 23, 2020.
Since the event began in 1996, Denim Days participants have raised more than $97.9 million to make sure those facing the disease know we stand with them in the fight. From investing in research to free rides to chemo and places to stay when treatment is far from home, the American Cancer Society is there for those facing breast cancer – and all cancers – every step of the way.
Denim Days began with a simple concept – if each of us takes a small step to help eliminate breast cancer, collectively, those steps will take us far in achieving our goal. Employees at a private company got together to ask coworkers for donations to “go casual” for the cause. And what’s more casual than denim? The idea spread, and now companies, schools, and other organizations nationwide have participated in raising funds and awareness to support American Cancer Society programs and services that help those with breast cancer, and provide information to help women and men understand how they might be able to reduce their risk of breast cancer.

Here’s how you can join in: Donate $5 or more to the American Cancer Society through this website and you can wear jeans on October 23rd. (I’ll remind you, don’t worry!) That’s it! You’re now a cancer fighter. We have a company goal of $3,500; last year we raised $3,551 and I think we can beat that this year. The money goes directly to the American Cancer Society, who provides more funding for breast cancer research than any other organization. They also help women access breast cancer screenings and treatment, and give patients and families somewhere to turn for support and resources. On Friday, October 23rd, you can wear jeans to the Boston office provided you make a charitable donation of $5 (or more) to Denim Day. To our colleagues from the NY and California offices working remotely, we hope that you will still participate and support this great cause. You can make your donation online – with COVID guidelines this is the safest route. We are hoping for 100% participation for this worthy cause. Keeping in mind October 23rd is a regular business day, please use discretion on the jeans you elect to wear. I hope to see you in jeans on October 23rd. Join in now with a donation of $5 or more!
