Each year, around 1.8 million people are diagnosed with cancer in America alone and over half a million people pass away due to this horrible disease. These people are often more vulnerable to other illnesses and are some of those under greatest threat by Covid-19. Cancer victims are sometimes pushed to side in the face of this global pandemic, with postponed check ups and treatments for the less urgent. But we owe it not just to them, but to ourselves to help the afflicted.
Cancer is not only a grueling and terrifying experience that few recover from, but it often also holds a crushing economic burden. Cancer drugs can cost up to $360,000 per year or more. That's not even including the cost of surgeries or chemo/radiation. And prices are still rising. Even with insurance, families suffer greatly from the costs of the disease and many find themselves drowning in bills; some, right after the pain of losing a beloved family member.
We chose the American Cancer Society since they focus on the people behind the numbers. They use much of their donations to help take on the financial burdens that these victims and their families face. We've personally experienced how cancer tears families apart and how those who have seen or experienced it will never be the same. It is because of this that we want to do everything in our power to help lessen the pain that cancer has inflicted. Thank you for reading and remember that any little donation counts!
