Water scarcity is a global crisis that affects communities inside and outside of Canada. Approximately 850 million people on Earth do not have access to clean, safe drinking water. People in water-scarce communities risk exposure to water-borne illness, and spend a large allotment of time travelling to and from water sources that may still be contaminated.
Helping communities access water is a fast and effective way to reduce poverty rates. With access to clean and safe water, water-borne illnesses are reduced, girls have more time to attend school, and families have more opportunities to generate income for themselves.
The Me To We club at Ajax High School has organized a campaign within the DDSB to spread awareness about water scarcity around the world, and to inspire our community's future change-makers. Join us in changing the lives of millions of people in partnership with the WE Charity.
