About 20 years ago, my brother David was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease.
He lived with bouts of periodic pain and late night trips to the E.R.
All the while he was on medications which held the disease at bay.
Last year, the medications ceased to work and he was faced with a lifetime of permanent dialysis OR find a compatible donor.
In August he sent out a compelling plea to the entire extended Kane clan: EVERYONE stepped up to the plate to get tested to be the donor. I was the fortunate one that was the match and on January 23, 2019, at the amazing Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, the operation took place and I am pleased to say was a success.
David is a living donor recipient and doing well. David has a new lease on life.
Let's help others suffering from kidney disease get a new lease too!!
