We are so humbled by Scores honoring us for our service. To all of our friends and family, thank you for your support on our journey over the past 10 years with Boston Scores. We have been privileged to help this organization grow into the strong center that it is today for so many of Boston's most vulnerable.
From David: At the end of this month, my ten years as Board Chair of Boston Scores comes to a close. It has been an absolute privilege to serve our community in this role. It’s also incredibly humbling to see the combined forces of committed staff members, coaches, board members, volunteers and funders push this organization to new heights. Boston Scores is growing its impact on children across the Boston area in so many ways – whether it is the sheer number of children reaching 1500, the schools we partner with exceeding 40, the ages of the children now extending from kindergarten to high school, and the curriculum that incorporates a social entrepreneurship program alongside soccer and literacy. Achieving this is a journey that involves so many friends and I am forever grateful for your willingness to be part of it. I am also so excited for the future of Boston Scores under new Chairs Laura Grattan and Chris Pike, who will bring fresh energy and vision to the organization.
From Nicole: Many years ago, we were introduced to Boston Scores when we played in the first ever Scores Cup soccer tournament at Boston University. (Picture above!). David and I were young and in better shape, and even the 100+ degree turf did not weaken our love for the game, and interest in knowing more about the organization. David continued to come home and tell me about the impassioned staff and the kids who were given something better to belong to than a front stoop - a team. We attended events over the years, such as the Jamboree, to meet the families and coaches who were together in growing the opportunities for these young children. I even managed to be a volunteer referee for one girls' match, but I had trouble keeping up! Nine years ago, I started chairing the committee for the fall fundraising Celebration Gala. We expanded it in order to introduce Scores to more people in Boston. The additional revenue allowed us to serve more kids, and drove us to work harder every year. Passing that chairperson torch this year has been wonderful to see new ideas and new talent take over.
This leadership transition provides a wonderful opportunity to spend time with you. We hope you will join us on Thursday, September 17th as we virtually participate in the Boston Scores 2020 Celebration: Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders. We have set a brave goal of raising $50,000 from our network of friends, colleagues, and supporters who understand how much this organization does empower tomorrow's leaders. Any donations made to this page will go directly toward funding our FY21 Programs. We encourage you all to LEAN IN and keep this organization running during tough times. As an incentive, if we reach $50,000 donated, we will personally match it with another $50,000. Join us!
