This year I will be doing the Ironman in Lake Placid NY. For those of you familiar with this race, it involves swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles and then running a marathon. I'm shaking my head as I type these numbers in because I have never gone this far before. I'm determined, I'm training hard, and I have no plan on stopping until I cross that finish line.
I want to finally turn this long time goal of mine into reality.
As part of the journey towards the Ironman I have committed to raise $3000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Lifestyle foundation in honor of my good friend Brian Callanan and the rest of the 70,000 people that are afflicted with this disease. Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited life-threatening disorder that damages the lungs and digestive system. A 140.6 mile race is nothing compared to the fight those with Cystic Firosis carry out each day. People that have the disease have an average life expectancy of 37 years. It is a difficult battle with endless doctor and hospital visits. While medications have improved, there is still a long way to go as there is no cure for Cystic Fibrosis yet.
With your help, we can improve the lives of those that have this disease. Please support me in my quest for the Ironman by donating to this great cause.
