Help wanted! The DATA Garden and Outdoor Classroom is off to a great start, but we need a little mid-race pick-me-up as we forge ahead into the next leg of our race, installation of a native plant and pollinator garden. So far, we’ve been plugging away as we’ve checked off a number of items on our to do list: ✔Build planter boxes for growing food. ✔Install student-designed and built pergola for class and club use. ✔Clear space for native garden. ✔Get irrigation supplies. But we still have a way to go: ___Native plants. ___Navigable pathways for students with special needs. ___Landscape grading. ___Irrigation installation. Your donation will allow us to restore the area to its native habitat and create a real-world learning experience. This garden will host low-water using plants that will help our students understand and practice environmental stewardship in our semi-arid environment. It will give classes a chance to observe the creatures that play a critical role in sustaining local plant life. Equally important, your donation will fund decomposed granite and borders for the pathways that will make our garden accessible to ALL STUDENTS. Once completed, those who use wheelchairs, walkers, and crutches will be able to easily navigate our garden space. We’ve made it so far, but we really need your help to reach the finish line! (Funds for this project will be directed to DATA ASB through Ventura Unified School District.)
