By building libraries around the world, The World is Just a Book Away (WIJABA) gives children access to education that they wouldn't otherwise have. Promoting literacy and education helps end the perpetual cycle of poverty that these children are currently experiencing. Thus far, WIJABA has built 90 libraries in schools and orphanages, and 2 mobile libraries, impacting over 70,000 children through access to educational programs and books facilitated through our libraries and partner schools.
I was first introduced to WIJABA in 2014, during my sophomore year, when WIJABA Founder James Owens taught my Non-Profit Communication class at USC. As I began to learn more about the mission, I knew it combined 3 major focuses of mine: literacy, children, and global awareness. Since 2014, I have hosted a Gala at USC with Sebastian Smith and Reed Semcken as part of the ALC, traveled to Indonesia in to learn personally how our WIJABA's programs are benefitting the many children in orphanages, and now as President of the ALC, leading a group of 10 individuals to help make an impact as well.
Please consider a donation to my fundraising page, and remember you can donate in honor or in memory of someone, as a birthday gift, or a congratulations!
