Danger Close Hockey Club (HC) is made up of veterans and current active duty military members. The club takes it’s name from the military term Danger Close, which is used in artillery, close air support and naval gunfire missions, when friendly forces are within close proximity of the target. The HC has formed from all over New England to play in the 2019 Heroes Cup in order to fundraise for charity. Danger Close HC has chosen to fundraise in support of the Skate for the 22 Foundation. The Skate for the 22 Foundation (SFT22), a New England based 501c3 non-profit, provides a team based supportive environment at no cost for veterans in order to reduce drastically high veteran suicide rate of 20-22 a day. The SFT22 does this using the sport of hockey using teamwork to bring veterans back to a place where they continue to serve with their bothers and sisters again through charity hockey games and events. The SFT22 also provides suicide prevention and awareness seminars for veterans and their families. Finally, the SFT22 provides financial assistance and yearly scholarships to families of veterans who have committed suicide. Danger Close is proud to the support the SFT22 in all that it does daily for our military veterans and their families.
