Encore Performing Society is very proud to announce that three of our local Cherokee Dancers have been selected to participate in Kirov Academy of Washington DC Ballet Summer Intensive. This 5 week course is taught by some of the best instructors in the world. This is a tremendous and unique opportunity for these young ladies. They have been training since the young age with Ms. Lena Gladkova-Huffman at Academy of Performing Arts. They spent up to 12 hours/week at the studio working on their skills - not including rehearsal time over the weekends. You may have seen some of these girls in Encore performances of Cinderella, the Nutcracker, performing in The Four Moons locally and around the country, giving back to the community through various outreach performances, working with younger students. They are currently preparing for A Journey Home - a new production featuring various dance styles. Ballet Summer Intensive in DC is one of the best programs in the country - and it builds up on Ms. Lena`s teaching Russian Ballet locally. The cost of this intensive is $8000, which includes tuition, room and board. Funds raised via this campaign will go directly to these young performers to help offset these costs and will be divided equally between those who are able to go. If you would like it to go to a specific dancers, pictured above are Reece Cowart (left), Lacy Ullrich (center) and Kassandra Mankiller (right). Any and all help is greatly appreciated and we will keep you updated of the progress of these three Cherokee ballerinas.
