Friends and Family,
I am raising money to fight cancer. Last year I lost a close friend to this insidious disease. We all have close friends who are, have, or will have to confront a form of cancer at some point. Some will overcome it, some won't.
Dean Randazzo is a New Jersey surfing legend whose professional surfing career was cut short due to a battle against Lymphoma which he fortunately was able to overcome. This 22.5 Mile Paddle for A Cause race was started by several of his close friends while he was in treatment to mimic the severity of the physical toll that battling cancer places on an individual and their family.
Participating in this paddling race is a humbling endurace challenge unlike a standard running or biking race on land. Ocean conditions and changing weather patterns have made it impossible to complete the race course for many paddlers in years past. Last year I was forced to be picked up by a support boat with 5 miles to go due to a ensuing storm approaching from the western end of Absecon Island. I plan to finish this year and raise $500 to contribute to this excellent organization. Any support is greatly apprecaited!
