The Dam Short Film Festival celebrates independent short film from all over the world and drives promotion of arts and culture in Southern Nevada.
DSFF is approaching its 17th season (February 11 – 15, 2021) of providing a platform for unheard voices in film to be recognized. Our commitment to cultivating the best possible experience for our filmmakers, audience, volunteers, and local community has helped make us a cultural institution that drives business to our local economy. It's not by chance that we're ranked as one of the Top 100 Best Reviewed Film Festivals (out of over 9,000), according to the world's leading festival submission website, FilmFreeway.
Last year, we were named Best Local Film Festival in Desert Companion Magazine’s Best of the City Awards Issue and we continue to receive amazing earned media coverage year-round through innovative community engagement efforts like our Poster Art Contest.
In light of the current status of the global Covid-19 pandemic, we have decided to take the 17th Annual Dam Short Film Festival online as a virtual event. We will announce our full schedule and other online festival details on January 1st. The virtual festival will retain all the great qualities of past festivals, including excellent and diverse programming, filmmaker Q&As, and scheduled events that allow audiences, filmmakers, and staff to mix and mingle. The decision was not easy, but the health and safety of our guest filmmakers, volunteers, and audience is our utmost concern. We look forward to returning to the Boulder Theatre in future years. Join us February 11-15, 2021 from the comfort of your home!
Our five-day schedule offers over 120 films that are guaranteed to enlighten, entertain, and inspire. The films are grouped by genre and theme into 60-90 minute blocks. Genres include Comedy, Documentary, Drama, Animation, Sci-Fi, Horror, Music Video, and Nevada Filmmaker. It’s a world-class film festival experience broadcasting LIVE from Boulder City!
