This year I was fortunate enough to obtain a charity spot in the Spring Lake 5 mile run. This is a great way not only for me to push myself and get more fit, but also to raise funds and spread awareness for a great charity.
Did you know that running can reduce your risk of cancer? Maybe running doesn’t cure cancer, but there’s plenty of proof that it helps prevent it. in the Journal of Nutrition showed that regular exercise is associated with a lower risk of certain cancers. What’s more, if you already have cancer, running can improve your quality of life while you’re undergoing chemotherapy.
Last year cancer became personal in my family when my sister-in-law was diagnosed with lung cancer. Luckily, it was caught very early and right now, she is living cancer free. A diagnosis of cancer affects not only the patient but also the family, friends, and community of the individual. Cancer and the treatments used to treat it can introduce a complex array of lifestyle changes and emotional responses, which can be difficult for family members to handle.
STOMP The Monster™ provides financial and other support to cancer patients, their families, and caregivers when they need it most – during their fight with the disease. http://stompthemonster.org
This will be my first 5 mile run and I hope you can assist me in my efforts to help this great charity. Please share this with others and if you are able, make a donation. I would really love to be able to go beyond my goal to help others that are in need.
