At CymaBay, we are committed to improving the lives of patients with liver and other chronic diseases by developing and providing access to innovative therapies. Our lead development product is being evaluated for the potential treatment of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC). PBC primarily affects women; 1 in 1000 women over the age of 40 lives with PBC. It is rare, chronic, progressive autoimmune disease of the liver characterized by impaired bile flow and accumulation of toxic bile acids. Accompanying inflammation and destruction of the intrahepatic bile ducts may cause progression to fibrosis, cirrhosis and liver failure. For those patients who continue to progress, despite current treatment, liver transplantation is often the last option. On May 4-5, 2019, CymaBay employees and family will volunteer or run 191 miles through 36 cities and across the Golden Gate Bridge as the CymaBay Enhanced LiveRunners, promoting organ donation. During the Golden Gate Relay (GGR), known as California's Longest Party, passing the baton to each team member throughout the race will symbolize the transfer of an organ from donor to recipient. The GGR is dedicated to organ recipients, donors and those waiting for organs. Please consider a donation under the CymaBay Enhanced LiveRunners Team to support this important initiative. Please discuss your personal wishes regarding organ donation with your family. This will allow loved ones to make an informed decision if you become a potential organ donor. Thanks in advance for your support of 125,000 Americans waiting for organ transplants. Donate online (include link to team story) or send a check payable to Organs R Us, 570 El Camino Real, Suite 150-330, Redwood City, CA 94063. Please write “CymaBay Enhance LiveRunners” on the bottom of your check.
