I was inspired to join the Cycle Kids team for the Boston Marathon for a number of reasons. the first was selfish, to fulfill a life long dream to run it and knowing that a qualifying time was out of reach. The other being that as a physician and a fitness freak I have a concern about the damage caused by sedentary life styles and poor dietary habits. With the cut backs in physical education and difficult financial choices parents have to make ,Cycle Kids seeks to help the next generation have fun and stay fit.
There are a multitude of worthy organizations that we can support. Cycle Kids is a relatively low overhead operation where donations go almost entirely to promote the health and well being of children. Running the marathon for them adds extra meaning to the thrill of going 26.6 miles .
Thanks for your support!
