Cultivate Initiatives is a nonprofit startup in East Portland. Our mission is to work with and among our neighbors to provide underserved community members access to basic supportive services: housing, health, work, and education. We believe our community is only as strong as the bonds at the margins, and WE want to make them stronger.
Our first project is a day center for female and non-binary community members experiencing houselessness. This building on 181st and Stark, right on the border of Southeast Portland and Gresham, is nearly turnkey with 17,500 square feet of usable space, a commercial kitchen, 12 bathrooms, and ample spacing to comply with social distancing requirements.
On Day One we will offer daytime access to: Showers - Laundry Mail services - Hot meals, Clothing and hygiene supplies - Case management services - Peer support and mentorship
Our initial six-month operating budget for the day center is $181,000. And we’re not stopping there: this spring we will begin to offer community health services with our partners at Concordia University Nursing.
After six months, our plan is to expand the day center and begin offering overnight shelter space, still focusing on the underserved female and non-binary houselss populations in East Portland.
We need your help to grow our vision. And so do the people we serve.
