In July of 2017, I was involved in a biking accident that resulted in a broken neck. I was incredibly fortunate and I am expected to make a full recovery. However, this experience gave me a newfound awareness about traumatic spine injuries and the challenges faced by those who experience them.
During recovery, my Neuro PA, Steve Langefeld, and neurosurgeon, Dr. Jon Silver, told me about Shepherd Center, one of the nation's top rehabilitation hospitals for spinal cord and brain injuries.
Starting in June of 2018, I rode my bike cross country from Astoria, Oregon to Portsmith, New Hampshire (3691 miles) to raise money for Shepherd Center and to help those who have suffered more serious injuries than my own. Find out more about their life-sustaining and life-enriching work at shepherd.org.
I dipped my wheel in the Atlantic Ocean on August 6th. While I achieved my goal of cycling across the country, I am still working to achieve my goal of raising money for Shepherd Center.
Thanks so much for considering a donation of any amount, small or large, to this worthy facility. Your donation will directly benefit and improve the lives of those who have suffered a traumatic brain or spinal injury.
I paid for the full cost of my trip. All of your generous donations (except for a small administrative/transaction fee collected by CrowdRise) will go to Shepherd Center.
