Credit Do’s Smarter Barter™ program empowers young people to learn, work, and save toward higher education and financial freedom.
Middle school students—most of whom are too young for “real” jobs—LEARN through a 10-hour, in-school financial education course that prepares them to WORK a 5-hour community work-service event like a food drive in exchange for $50 merchandise credit at local grocery stores.
These partners also encourage them to SAVE by donating funds to a personal educational savings account.
Due to the Covid-19 crisis and the need to social distance we have had to cancel our (2) scheduled food drives that were to take place on Thursday, April 23rd and on Saturday, May 23rd that would have enabled 120 students to earn $50 each to purchase essentials from the grocery stores their families frequent.
Ninety-five percent of our student families are living at or below the poverty line. Their challenges to meet basic needs have never been greater.
We are running a campaign to raise $6,000 to give to each of the 120 students a $50 gift card. This will replace the money they would have earned working at one of the food drives we had to cancel.
Your contribution of any size makes a difference and is greatly appreciated.
